Here are some ways to make your home environment more comfortable and therefore increase your own wellness.
- Make you bed
- I know you are tired of hearing it from your mom but it really makes a huge difference. Give it a try for a week and see the difference.
- Organize to "ready"
- It is so frustrating to be on a hunt for your "three" (wallet, keys, phone). Take 15 minutes to ensure everything is ready to go in a moments notice so you don't end up scrambling.
- Do your dishes
- If you just clean the dishes you used to cook something it greatly reduces the amount of mess in the kitchen which inspires clean counter tops and that pot ready for when you want to make some delicious beef and barley stew.
- Pick up at least three things before you go to bed
- My family has been doing this (even my 2 year old) and the house has maintained a nice clean setting for a week so far. It makes a huge impact on the way you appreciate your house.
- Do one chore a day outside of the small list I have her
- Sweep the floor, vacuum the parlor (or as I call it, crap room), clean the toilet. These small things once a day will make the smell of your house better, not overwhelm you with chores and all around make your environment better.
- Get ready for the day
- Again, I am at home very limited in what I can do. Even if you don't have this blessed privileged and only have one day a week off, at least take a shower and get dressed. You will feel more comfortable in your home and much more comfortable if you get a surprise visit from someone.
