Easy and Healthy Kid Snacks for Summer

Otter-pops and Popsicle are so easy to just grab from the store, but there is a healthy, cheaper and easier way to keep your kids cool and healthy this summer. Plus you will be the place the kids all want to come to because you have the best snacks! Unless you don't want that, then keep them for yourself!

There is this amazing little invention called zipzicles. You can get them on amazon or on the linked website. They are reusable otter-pops that you can fill yourself. An Otter-pop only has 15 calories and 4 grams of carbohydrates. Yikes. That does not sound filling at all especially when your kids bring friends to visit and the first thing they want is a snack. How about this healthy recipe in a zipzicle instead:

Pineapple Orange

Servings Prep Time
12 Zipzicle® Ice Pops 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple fresh, peeled and cut
  • 2 cups orange juice

Instructions

  1. Blend ingredients until smooth. Using a funnel fill pouches to line. Freeze upright until solid and enjoy!

per serving nutrition: calories:25,  carbohydrates:6 g,  Protein:0.5 g,  vitamin C: 33%

There is also the simple popsicle makers. I use these because I love how easy they are to fill. I don't blend anything. My kids love finding that whole fruit in the middle. This is my kids favorite popsicles I make for them as a snack.

Mixed berry Popsicle

Servings                    Prep Time
3 Popsicle       5 minutes

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • water
Instructions
Stir water and juice in a easy pouring cup. Fill the Popsicle tube full of frozen berries and fill with water/lemon/lime mixture. (I also suggest when you take them out of the freezer to rub them with your hands or run under warm water so they come out whole.)

Yeah, it is that quick and easy. They don't make a big sticky mess either because it is just water and berries, no artificial sugar and no artificial colors. Use your imagination to make a zipzicle or a popsicle. There are hundreds of recipes out there for you to try before summers end. ENJOY!
