Statistics on Cardiovascular

The media seems to make a ridiculously huge deal about obesity. Why is this?
  • In 2006 prevalence of CV disease in the US was 36.9% (81.1 million people)
  • Incidence of CV event 3/1000 men 35-44; 74/1000 men 85-94
  • Mortality rate for CV disease was 35% (1 in 3) in 2005
20% of the 36.9% are people who are overweight or obese. The truth is it is a big deal. Our population is getting bigger and bigger. More health problems are arising not only because we have the research to find new health issues but because of the problem with over weight population and lack of active Americans.  How can we change this truly growing epidemic?

According to my professor in my research class at Utah Valley University we could save 6 million dollars a year in cardiovascular health related issues if everyone was to pick up at walking program. Not weight lifting, not running or intense marathon, just walking.

So let's spread the word and do just a little more walking. Walk to the super market, walk to your friends, take a break from the chaos of the world and take just 30 minutes to enjoy the beautiful weather that is going on right now. Save your heart, save another persons life and walk it off together.
